I recently had to replace my Vonage phone modem and ATT DSL modem as both died of a single lightening strike in our neighbor's yard (sure I will use a surge protector from now on). Called Vonage and got the modem for free (thanks Vonage) and had to buy the DSL modem from ATT - whopping $75 at a local ATT store for an otherwise $30 modem on the internet. The set up was easy. I first had to connect my Motorola 2210 to my computer, go to att.net/activate to start the activation process, which was smooth. The real problem started when I wanted to insert the Vonage modem in between the computer and the DSL modem. No set up is required on the Vonage box (even though the literature that comes with the Vonage box tells you to go to v-configure.com and do the basic set up, you dont have to when you are using a Motorola modem and did the previous "activate" step) and it connects seemlessly to the internet. (This information may not be relevant now as I see that both NewYork and Houston consulates are outsourcing the OCI (and other processings) to a third party... THANK GOD!!!!) As with any processing that is done by the Indian consulate in the USA, OCI card processing also is a blackbox with minimum feedback and unanswered questions by emails and phones. We recently applied for the OCI card and experienced frustration like many others who applied too. They stick relatively close to the times described on the consulate's web site but lack of feedback puts you in a tense spot. పిల్లలకి పళ్ళు ఏవి ఎప్పుడు వస్తాయి అనే విషయం మీద (ముఖ్యం గా మొదటి పిల్లవాళ్ళకి ఐతే ఏమి expect చెయ్యాలో తెలియదు కాబట్టి) మాలాగే చాలామందికి అవగాహన తక్కువ ఉంటుంది అనే ఉద్దేశ్యంతో ఇది రాస్తున్నాను. ముఖ్యంగా అదే వయసుకి చెందినా వేరే పిల్లల్ని కూడా చూస్తూ ఉంటే, మన వాళ్లకి అదే వేగంతో పళ్ళు కనిపించకపోతే కొంచెం ఖంగారు పడడం సహజం. ఈ మధ్య మా పెద్ద పిల్లవాడిని దంత వైద్యుని దగ్గరకి తీసుకొని వెళ్ళినప్పుడు ఈ చార్ట్ ఇచ్చారు. ఎవరికీ వారు దీనిని తమ పరిస్థితి కి అన్వయించుకోవచ్చు.

మొన్ననే "మా" టీవీ లో వచ్చిన వేటూరి గారి ఇంటర్వ్యూ. - చాలా రోజుల తరవాత మా టీవీ లో మాకు నచ్చిన ఒక ప్రోగ్రాం ఇది (లెట్స్ టాక్, వెలుగు వెలిగించు కూడా బాగున్నాయి). " గుర్తుకొస్తున్నాయి " అనుకుంటూ వందలకి వందల ఎపిసోడ్లు ఒకే వ్యక్తి తో తీసి బోర్ కొట్టించే కంటే ఇలాంటి "సరుకున్న" మనిషి అనుభవాలు, ఆలోచనలు అందరికీ తెలియజేస్తే అది రాబోయే తరాలకి ఉపయోగిస్తుంది. ఈ కార్యక్రమం మరిన్ని భాగాలు రావాలని కోరుకుందాం.
